Rupert GillRupert Gill began his musical training as a Quirister within the choral foundation of Winchester College under Dr Christopher Tolley. During this time he sang with choir tours to Germany, France and the United States of America and was subsequently awarded an honorary music scholarship whilst at Harrow School. In 2004 he received a choral scholarship with the choir of Norwich Cathedral and continued his musical education at the University of East Anglia where he studied music and conducting with Sharon Andrea Choa.
After a year spent gaining a Graduate Diploma in Law, Rupert returned to music. Under the tutelage of Professors Patrick Russill and Paul Brough he was recently awarded an MA having completed postgraduate studies in choral conducting at the Royal Academy of Music where he received the Alan Kirby prize. Conducting engagements have included evensong at the Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace with the Royal Academy of Music chamber choir and workshops with Paul Spicer and James O’Donnell. In September 2010 he was invited to conduct the opening of the final concert of the Academy’s well-established annual residency at Neresheim Abbey, Germany and has recently participated in masterclasses with Ben Parry, Jeremy Summerly and latterly David Hill and the BBC Singers. Recent engagements have included a concert at London's Temple Church with the London Lawyers' Chorus as the sole recipient of their 2011 bursary for young conductors as well as guest conducting appearances with the Slough Philharmonic.
